Undisputed female super featherweight champion, Alycia "The Bomb" Baumgardner, is set to headline the all-women’s card sanctioned by the World Boxing Council (WBC) who is defending her title against Delfine Persoon.

The historic WBC Super Featherweight Championship bout is set to take place on the Lux Stage at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, on 27 September.

"This fight is more than just a return to the ring for me, it’s a statement," said Baumgardner in a press release by More Media International. "Headlining the all-women’s sanctioned card is an honour, and I’m ready to show the world the strength, resilience and skill that women in boxing bring to the sport."

The event has set a new milestone with the largest purse bid in WBC history for a female fight, amounting to $500,000 (€450,000). In addition, event production company Global Combat Collective, Baumgardner Promotions, BrinxTV and Fubo Sports are collaborating to bring this significant boxing event to a broad audience for free, marking a milestone in sports broadcasting.

Global Combat Collective Co-Founder and CEO Nelson Lopez celebrates this thrilling event as a step toward gender parity in sports.

"For far too long women in sports have been overlooked, underpaid and marginalized,” Lopez said. “Despite their unprecedented and magnificent achievements, the lack of global recognition and equal pay is extremely appalling. At GCC, our primary goal is to change this narrative, and on September 27 we are doing just that, with an all-star women’s lineup, attracting guests from all around the world.”

Baumgardner, the undisputed female super featherweight champion of the world, is not only ready to defend her title, but she’s also ready to fight for the rights of female athletes all over the globe.

"Equal pay in sports is not just a matter of fairness; it’s a statement that women’s contributions are valued and essential, paving the way for a more inclusive and just society," she said.
