The Executive Committee of the International World Games Association (IWGA) has held its fourth meeting of the year in Madrid, Spain to convene a year ahead of The World Games 2025 which will be held in Chengdu, China.

A meeting took place in the Spanish capital over the weekend on Saturday 17 August one year ahead of the The World Games 2025 Chengdu.

All seven of the IWGA Executive Committee members gathered to discuss several major decisions for the future of the organisation and its events including financial matters, rights distribution, IWGA Athletes Committee, 2025 Chengdu, and the World Games thereafter.

The meeting reportedly underscored a firm commitment to innovation, global outreach to new audiences, and dedication to the success of its members and athletes.

The meeting in Madrid reportedly dedicated a significant amount of time to the One-Year-to-Go celebrations and the preparations for TWG 2025 which are the most anticipated event on the IWGA calendar.

There was also an extra emphasis on expanding The World Games' brand globally over the next year which tied into a review of the Athletes Committee election process and focus on enhancing athlete engagement and representation.

A key motion for breastfeeding female athletes was approved having been introduced by IWGA AC Chair Sandra Sanchez. Though still being properly developed, the motion aims to support breastfeeding athletes by allowing them to bring their babies to The World Games 2025 and future events.

IWGA consolidated its commitment to innovation and its alignment with global trends with its ongoing collaboration with the LOC aiming to introduce e-sports for the first time in the history of The World Games.

A collaboration with the Global Esports Federation has begun and three e-games could now feature at the Sports Plaza during The World Games 2025 after a proposal was submitted.

Other topics covered included sponsorship activities with Shankai Sports, bidding procedures for The World Games 2033, and financial matters which reportedly ultimately indicated a stable performance, demonstrating overall financial health for IWGA.

There will now be several meetings in October and a further few in the new year to ensure the successful execution of upcoming events.
