Muaythai's Olympic showcase at the Paris 2024 Olympics. IFMA

The world's best Muaythai athletes performed at Club France from 5-6 August during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.For the first time in Olympic history, this martial art established a presence, bridging centuries of tradition with the Olympic spirit in a spectacle that captivated over 100,000 spectators.

Օver 40 Muay Boran performers, athletes from 24 nations, Pi Muay musicians, and muaythai Masters converged to showcase the sport's rich tapestry of traditions and techniques. The electrifying bouts, alongside the World Muaythai Demonstration Team, showcased not only the technical brilliance of the sport but also its rich cultural heritage. 

Alongside the amazing bouts in the centre ring, were the demonstrations and seminars held in the Baan Muay, House of Muaythai, nestled in the heart of Paris at the Teddy Riner Arena. 

Thai superstar Buakaw Banchamek, a living legend in the muaythai world, spearheaded the seminar with electrifying demonstrations.

"Seeing muaythai at the Olympics was a career pinnacle. Bringing our art to such a prestigious stage was incredible. If muaythai becomes an official Olympic sport, it will be a tremendous honour for practitioners worldwide," said Buakaw.

Alongside Buakaw, French athlete Jimmy Vienot represented the host nation embodying the sport's global appeal. Their performances, complemented by the World muaythai Demonstration Team's displays of Wai Kru and Mai Muay.. The team, composed of gold medal winners from the Wai Kru and Mai Muay Championships, captivated audiences with their graceful movements, highlighting muaythai as both a martial art and a cultural treasure.

IFMA President. Sakchye Tapsuwan said that it was the culmination of years of dedication from the whole muaythai family. 

“From the streets of Bangkok to the dojos of Paris, every practitioner played a part in bringing our beloved sport to this Olympic stage," said Tapsuwan
