Paris 2024 gold medalists Jack Carlin of Great Britain and Hetty van de Wouw of the Netherlands are two of several Olympians to have qualified as new riders who have qualified for the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Track Champions League.

Having seen numerous track cycling records broken at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the stunning Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Velodrome now lies quiet in the aftermath of an unforgettable summer in Paris.

It won't, however, be all that long until a selection of Olympic gold medalists return to the site where they wrote themselves into the history books. In late November the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines will be hosting the first of five back-to-back rounds for the UCI Track Champions League.

France's Men's Omnium Olympic winner Benjamin Thomas, Great Britain's Men's Team Sprint silver medalist and Men's Sprint bronze medalist Jack Carlin, Women's Omnium silver medalist Daria Pikulik and Women's Keirin silver medalist Hetty van de Wouw of the Netherlands are a few of the seven successful Olympians to have qualified after their strong performances in Paris this summer.

They are joined by Australia's Matthew Glaetzer, who won two bronzes in the Men's Keirin and Men's Team Spring, Iúri Leitão of Portugal, who won a gold medal in the Men's Madison event and silver in the Men's Omnium event, and Belgium's Men's Omnium bronze medalist Fabio van den Bossche.

The seven Olympians are 41 of cycling's elite athletes to have already qualified for the UCI Track Champions League and join the likes of 2023 UCI Track Champions League overall winners Ellesse Andrews of New Zealand, Harrie Lavreysen of the Netherlands, Dylan Bibic of Canada, and Katie Archibald of Great Britain.

After the initial round at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Velodrome on Wednesday 23 November, the series will head to the Netherlands on November 29-30 for the next two rounds at the new UCI Track Champions League venue Omnisport Apeldoorn.

The fourth round and the Grand Finale will then both take place at London's Lee Valley Velodrome on December 6-7.

In total, 72 athletes will compete at the UCI Track Champions League across the Sprint and Endurance Leagues, with 18 male and 18 female competitors in each category.

The 2024 Tissot UCI Track World Championships at the Ballerup Super Arena in Ballerup, Denmark in October will be the next major chance for riders to qualify directly and join the 41 who have already been selected.

There is also a wild card system in place that’s designed to recognise talent and promote diversity with riders chosen based on criteria including "exceptional performances in specific events, outstanding achievements, high UCI individual points rankings and notable performances in previous editions of the UCI Track Champions League."
