The partner of Team USA's Tara Davis-Woodhall is set to compete in the Paralympics on Monday almost one month on from when the couple went viral for their celebrations when Davis-Woodhall won gold at the Olympic Games.

Tara Davis-Woodhall and her partner Hunter Woodhall provided one of many wonderful moments from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games when they were filmed celebrating together following Davis-Woodhall's gold medal-winning long jump performance.

Competing for Team USA, 25-year-old Tara Davis-Woodhall clinched gold with a gigantic leap of 7.10m in the Olympic Games Women's Long Jump event on 8 August. As she did so her husband Hunter, one of 75,000 fans at the Stade de France, was seen enthusiastically cheering her on while sporting a 'Team Tara' t-shirt.

Realising she'd won gold she immediately ran over and leapt into her husband's arms who shouted "You're the Olympic champion! Oh my God, you did it!"

The heartwarming celebrations consequently went viral on social media with people calling them an "Olympic Power couple" and their embrace labelled one of the most enduring images of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Now, it is Hunter Woodhall's turn to try for gold as the three-time Paralympic medallist prepares to compete for Team USA in the 100-metre sprint preliminary round at the Paris Paralympics on September 1.

Born with fibular hemimelia, Woodhall had to have both legs amputated below the knee when he was just 11 months old and went on to make history when he became the first double amputee to earn a Division I track and field scholarship for the University of Arkansas.

In 2016 at the Rio Paralympic Games then he won Team USA two medals, a silver medal in the 200m and a bronze in the 40m, followed by another bronze medal in the 400m in Tokyo.

This summer he will again try his luck in two events competing in both the 100m and 400m events. "I'm feeling really good, mentally and physically," said Woodhall. "Watching Tara in Paris was a really great visualisation. So I'm prepared."

The two first met when they both competed in the Simplot Games in Idaho in 2017. They began exchanging messages thereafter eventually getting married in 2022 and Woodhall puts each of their success down to their relationship. "There's zero chance that we would be doing what we're doing if we didn't have each other," he said.
