On Monday, UEFA set a maximum ticket price of €60 ($51.80) for fans travelling to Champions League matches. It has also set a maximum price of €40 ($34.55) for Europa League tickets and €20 ($17.28) for tickets in the Conference League.

UEFA wants to make top-level football more accessible. To that end, it met on Monday and decided to cap the price of tickets for away fans in its three continental competitions this season. It said. "UEFA has today announced a reduction in the maximum ticket prices that home clubs can charge away supporters in its three men's club competitions," the organisation said.

The statement added that the decision "underlines UEFA's commitment to making European football more accessible and affordable for all fans". The new maximum price of €60 ($51.80) represents a €10 reduction on the planned cost of an away ticket for the continent's top club competition. Away tickets for Europa League matches will now cost 40 euros ($51.80), while tickets for the third-tier Conference League will cost 20 euros ($17.28).

The hope, or at least the intention, is that prices will continue to fall. UEFA's statement emphasises that the reductions will continue in future seasons. "This will be further reduced in 2025/26 to a maximum of €50 ($55,25 dolares) in the UEFA Champions League, €35 ($38,68) in the Europa League and €20 ($17.28) in the Conference League," UEFA said.

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin added: "Lowering the price cap for away supporters in the new UEFA men's club competitions is an important signal from all European club members to actively contribute to improving the overall match experience for fans.

This move is the result of previous negotiations and consultations between the European Club Association (ECA) and Football Supporters Europe (FSE). The need to make football more accessible and to ensure that the highest level of the game is accessible to all has brought all stakeholders to an agreement.
