Karim_Bashir_Jan_10January 11 - A new venture aims to give businesses and other organisations the chance to offer their staff masterclasses with some of Britain's top athletes.

Sports-Experience.com, a partnership between Catch Sport Ltd and GlobalGames Sports, also organises sports experiences – such as trying out wheelchair basketball or sitting volleyball - for clients in conjunction with the national governing bodies for Olympic and Paralympic sports.

A recent event at the Blenheim Palace International Horse Trails has already been judged a success.

Karim Bashir (pictured), managing director of Catch Sport, said: "Both companies have a clear vision and philosophy centred on the sponsors, sports and sports people.

"By giving the sports involved exposure and a revenue stream we are able to deliver unique events to our clients which include appearances from GB's top athletes.

"Furthermore, the modular approach we have taken means we can deliver anything from a single sport masterclass to medium-sized corporate events and multi-sport outdoor public taster events."

Grant Horan, managing director of GlobalGames Sports, added: "The major sporting events calendar in the UK and across the world is growing massively and the portfolio of services we can offer fulfils these opportunities.

"Focusing specifically on the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics the variety of opportunities, including team training and teambuilding programmes, offers a real contact point for all companies and organisations wanting to engage employees and the public with new sports and elite sportsmen and women."

The new venture has already worked with a number of national governing bodies.

Charlie Bethel, chief executive officer of British Wheelchair Basketball, said: "Being involved in demonstrations and sporting experiences for clients such as Lloyds TSB gives our relatively small sport great exposure across the country and helps to raise our profile to major brands.

"Wheelchair basketball is a great leveller which takes most people out of their comfort zone and a chance to experience a new sport as well as enjoy being active."

Piers Martin, chief executive officer of British Fencing, said: "British Fencing have so far worked on two events with Sports-Experience.com - at Blenheim Palace International Horse Trails, aimed at the general public, and a corporate event for a London 2012 sponsor.

"Both events proved extremely successful in providing a platform for the sport that it might not otherwise have had.

"It also gave some of our top athletes invaluable exposure and we look forward to more opportunities like this in the future."

Richard Stacey-Chapman, technical administrator for Volleyball England, said: "We have worked alongside Sports-Experience.com to give thousands of people an experience of sitting volleyball.

"The events have given people the chance to watch and play the sport as well as raising the profile of the game with both the public and potential sponsors.

"The eye-catching arena and fun activities provided the ideal setting to showcase volleyball."

Paul Goodwin, chief executive of British Handball, said: "Handball in Britain does not enjoy the same public exposure as is seen elsewhere in the world.

"Sports-Experience provide us with a first class opportunity to showcase our sport to a wide audience, as was the case at Blenheim, allowing people to try the sport, test their skills and experience the excitement.

"We will certainly be providing more 'handball experiences' and look forward to working with Karim and Grant to help us deliver successful events in the future."
