JUNE 7 - OSCAR PISTORIUS (pictured) is welcome to compete at the Olympics Sebastian Coe, the chairman of London 2012 said today.

The 21-year-old South African double amputee, nicknamed "Blade Runner", controversially won a case against the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), of which Coe is a vice-president, to be allowed to compete in the Games.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) overturned the earlier decision by the IAAF that the 'Cheetah' prostheses the double amputee wears gave him an unfair advantage.

Coe said: "We accept the decision of the court and if he competes, if he is able to meet the qualifying time he is very welcome to compete.

"The Court of Arbitration for Sport found in his (Pistorius) favour so if he is able to make the qualifying time which is the time set down for every athlete then he will be able to compete."

Pistorius must run a qualifying time for the 400 metres of 45.55sec if he is to compete in the individual event in Beijing, more than a second outside his best.

He has admtited that his best opportunity of competing in the Games may be in London 2012.
