altMarch 9 - British basketball star Luol Deng (pictured) will miss at least two more weeks with a tiny stress fracture in his right leg, it was revealed today.

Deng has had pain in the leg for more than a week, and tried to work out earlier today before the Chicago Bulls match against the Miami Heat.

Deng said doctors in Miami and Chicago have determined that there is a "very small, not even a hairline" fracture in the leg.

Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro said Deng's condition will be re-evaluated later this month.

Deng said: "The best thing is having all the doctors speak together, just coming up with [a consensus].

"Sometimes, you have doctors having different perspectives of an injury, but having them speak together and coming up with a plan and how to treat it, so I be back as healthy as I can [is a positive].

Deng is expected to continue to run on a treadmill which suspends weight.

It is similar to the machine that world marathon record holder Paula Radcliffe used as she battled to recover from a stress fracture in the build-up to last year's Olympics in Beijing.

British Basketball officials are closely monitoring the situation as Deng is expected to be their star player when the team competes in the European Championships in Poland in September.

It is the first time that Britain have qualified for the event since 1981.
