MARCH 2 - BRITISH BASKETBALL today breathed a huge sigh of relief after medical tests showed that star forward Luol Deng (pictured) was not suffering from a stress fracture, as first feared.

The Chicago Bulls player had raised fears that he may have a stress fracture in his right tibia after limping out of his side's 105-102 victory over the Houston Rockets.

But an MRI scan has discovered that Deng has suffered nothing more than a strained left quadriceps tendon.

Instead of missing the rest of the season, he may even be able to resume training tomorrow.

The diaganosis is good news for Britain, who have qualified for the European Championships in Poland in September, the first time they have reached that stage since 1981.
