Steve Philpott_03-10-11October 1 - The Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (IMSPA) has appointed the chief executive of DC Leisure, Steve Philpott, to its Board.


Philpott brings a wealth of experience from the sporting world, and has previously managed David Lloyd Leisure, Crown Sports and been the director of the Fitness Industry Association (FIA), as well as chairman of Skills Active's Sports and Fitness Employers Group.

He began his new post this week and said: "I am very pleased to be joining the IMSPA Board at such a historic time.

"I believe passionately in the importance of the role IMSPA has to play in supporting and training the workforce of tomorrow.

"I very much look forward to taking up the challenge of delivering a legacy of best practice for the sport and physical activity sector."

Marc Newey, the chairman of the IMSPA Board, added: "We are delighted to welcome Steve to the fold, and are looking forward to benefiting from his extensive experience of working at Board level across a range of sports and physical activity-related organisations.

"Here at IMSPA we aim to represent all of the one million professionals working within the sector with one unified voice, and this is certainly an area in which Steve can add real value."
