party for_the_podiumNovember 17 - Party for the Podium is set to provide non-athletes with the chance to experience the dedication required to compete at the top, with beach volleyballers, handballers, GB sprinters, hockey teams and rowers who are hoping to qualify for London 2012 offering training to others.

"Designed to be one off events to fit in around hectic training schedules, the athletes are looking to increase awareness of their sports," said the project creator of Party for the Podium, David Cotton.

"These experiences are Ideal for Christmas presents, group activities, employee rewards or team building, the experiences are designed to directly fund the participating athletes and create a truly remarkable bond between the public and athletes.

"With signed memorabilia, photos and even a video, this is an experience participants will remember for a long time."

Corporate purchasers will be encouraged to auction the experiences for event organisers in the hope that the auctions receive high prices and any excess profits donated to charities.

Should the options fail to inspire, the athletes, as a tribute to the late Jimmy Saville, will encourage participants to design their own event experiences.

Whilst they can be purchased outright, for distribution as seen fit, corporate purchasers will be encouraged to use them as auction items for organisers to present at their own events.

The athletes hope that this would encourage audiences to bid high with any profits over the reserve prices to be donated to the charities of organisers choosing. If the choice of options doesn't excite, then as a tribute to the late Jimmy Saville, the athletes are encouraging people to come up with their own event experiences.

Steve Rowbotham, also of Party for the Podium, said: "If you are really keen on a particular sport, or sportsperson, please feel free to be creative, no harm in asking we have scores of athletes keen to take part."

Louise Jukes, member of Britain's handball team, added: "This format is fantastic, its allows us to interact with your audience and the best bit is, you are directly funding us athletes, making our journey to 2012 slightly less stressful!"

Full details can be found on the Party for the Podium website and a sample is found on this video.
