altApril 16 - Four British disability shooters who competed for Britain in Beijing last year will fly to South Korea this weekend to take on the best in the world at the 2009 IPC Shooting Open Asian Championships.

 

Deanna Coates, Matt Skelhon, Nathan Milgate and James Bevis, all 2008 Paralympians, will be joined by Karen Butler to make a five-strong team, and will be accompanied at the event in CheongJu Ctiy by head Coach Pasan Kularatne and coach Louise Minett. 

 

For the shooters it will replace the European Championships, which was recently cancelled.

 

Britain’s shooters recently returned from the Polish Open with three gold and three silver medals.

 

Disability Target Shooting Great Britain (DTSGB) Head Coach and Team Manager Pasan Kularatne said: “We were all disappointed to hear that the European Championships will no longer be run this summer but we’re now more determined to make the most of the other competitions in our busy calendar.

 

“We’ve picked a strong team for this event and I’m confident that they will perform well in Korea .”
