Generations For_Peace_at_Oxford_University_16_JulyJuly 16 - Prince Feisal and Princess Sarah, the founder and President respectively of Generations For Peace, have taken part in a debate on health and sport at Oxford University in England.

The debate was titled "Harmony and Health: How far can sport provide the solutions", and took place at the famous university, coinciding with an Olympic Torch Relay dinner at Rhodes House.

Among those in attendance were Sir Roger Bannister (pictured below) , the first man to run a four-minute mile and who carried the torch last week, Olympic gold medal-winning modern pentathlete Dr Stephanie Cook and the university chancellor Lord Patten.

Prince Feisal (pictured top, holding Olympic Torch) was impressed by the welcome given to the torch as it passed through Oxford.

"Tonight, we are all here because of our links to sport and the university," he said.

"My brother, His Majesty King Abdullah II, and I are both committed to the peace-building legacy of our late father, King Hussein.

"He was an avid sportsman, and nurtured in us a love of sport, respect for one's opponent and fair play, and graciousness in victory and defeat.

"I am proud to carry on my father's work through the organisation I founded in 2007, Generations For Peace, combining peace, education and sport, and empowering youth to lead change in communities experiencing different forms of conflict and violence."

Princess Sarah added: "Our partnership with the University of Oxford is one of the key elements of our strategy that will allow us to connect academics with practitioners on the ground.

"The research and development led by our scholars at Oxford will enable us to identify and share knowledge and best practices across our own programmes and the wider peace building community, helping to achieve and promote greater innovation, quality, impact and sustainability."

Generations For Peace, an organisation set up in 2007 to promote the use of sport as a tool to tackle conflict, is sponsoring three students at Oxford University.

The organisation has trained and mentored close to 6,000 delegates and pioneers from 45 countries in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe since 2007.
