altMay 14 - London 2012 chief executive Paul Deighton (pictured) will deliver the introductory keynote address at Sports Event Management ’09, which is due to be held in November.

 

It will be Deighton's third appearance at the event, which is due to be held at the Shaw Theatre at the Novotel, St Pancras,on November 10, and is organised by Rushmans.
 

He is part of a strong speaker line-up ever assembled for the event which is now in its fifth year.


Deighton will reflect on the progress made by London 2012 and look ahead to the challenges to be faced and milestones to achieve in the months ahead.


Rob Holt, chief executive of the 2010 Ryder Cup Wales and Tim Shaw, the European sales director of the PGA European Tour and Ryder Cup Europe, are also among the early confirmed speakers.

 

They will deliver a case study on the 2010 Ryder Cup which underscores Sports Event Management 09’s focus on showcasing the experience of professionals working on some of the world’s most prestigious sports events.
 

The programme includes sessions on measuring the financial and social value of hosting sports events, the increasingly important role of technology in event presentation and delivery, the changing role of host broadcasters and the continuing security threat to major events.
 

In addition to the Ryder Cup Case Study, separate sessions will look ahead to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games and FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
