altSEPTEMBER 21 - LONDON 2012 has today announced the appointment of Martin Stewart (pictured) as an independent non-executive director and chairman of its Audit Committee.

 

 

 

Reporting to the LOCOG Committee Board, the Audit Committee will be responsible for monitoring the integrity of London 2012’s financial statements and performance, reviewing internal controls and risk management systems and monitoring internal and external audit functions.

Stewart is the chief financial officer of EMI Group plc. Before joining EMI, he spent eight years at BSkyB Group in the role of chief financial officer. Prior to joining BSkyB, he was finance director at Polygram UK ltd.

 

He trained at Stoy Hayward, and held a non-executive directorship at Michael Page International Plc between 2001 and 2003.  He is a graduate qualified ACA.

“Martin brings over 10 years experience of leading and running the commercial finance functions in FTSE 100 plcs," said Sebastian Coe, the chairman of London 2012.
