alt ANDY MURRAY (pictured) has today revealed he plans to go for gold for Britain at the Olympics - just as insidethegames reported he would back in November.

The world number 14 admits he would love to compete in the Beijing Olympics next year, even though the long-haul trip in August comes just ahead of the US Open.

Murray, 19, could also compete in the doubles event with brother Jamie.

He is relishing the chance to experience an Olympic Games, and said: "I guess it'll be cool. I've never done it before, but everyone says it's a great experience, being in the Olympic Village, just being around all the other athletes from other sports.

"It only comes around once every four years so there's quite a lot of pressure for you to perform well, but I'm looking forward to it."

Murray will hope to travel better than Tim Henman, who lost in straight sets to the Czech Republic's Jiri Novak at the 2004 Games in Athens, having also gone out without winning a set against Slovakian Karol Kucera four years earlier in Sydney.

The only triumph of Henman's Olympics career was the silver medal he and Neil Broad won at Atlanta in 1996 in the men's doubles.
