Together with Finnish partner Harri Heliovaara, the unseeded pair beat Australian and India's Rupesh Roy 6-2 6-7 6-3.  

 

"I expected to do well but it's a surprise to win," said Dyce. "It feels pretty good."

 

The 17-year-old from Edinburgh is rated as Britain's top junior and trains at Nick Bollettieri's academy in Florida.

 

"To win a junior slam, playing in front of a big crowd, with all that pressure - it all helps," he added.

 

Dyce met Heliovaara at a tournament in Mexico in December, when they were both without a partner.

 

"It was pure luck," revealed Dyce. "But we hit it off pretty good and it's worked out well.

 

"We are relaxed around each other and that is the key in a doubles team.

 

"It was only our third tournament together but we're looking to keep the partnership going wherever possible - especially in the slams.

 

"We got great support from the crowd and it was great to hear Scottish voices through the week."

 

Dyce is the first Briton since Andy Murray, winner of the US Open boys' singles title in 2004, to claim a junior slam title.
