altNOVEMBER 28 - HRH The Duchess Of Cornwall, patron of the British Equestrian Federation, visited Greenwich Park today and was shown around the Park which will be the controversial venue for equestrian and modern pentathlon at the London 2012 Olympic Games, and for equestrian in the Paralympic Games.

She was given a tour of the Park and saw the parts can be used for the cross-country course as well as the proposed location for the dressage and show jumping.

"We chose Greenwich Park as an Olympic and Paralympic venue because it is an iconic venue, visually stunning, and will bring equestrian sport to the city," said Sebastian Coe, the chairman of London 2012 (pictured here with The Duchess of Cornwall).

"Greenwich Park impressed the International Olympic Committee when they visited us in 2005, and helped give us the 'wow' factor. I have no doubt that this will be a fantastic venue in 2012 and will be a huge boost to equestrian sport."

The Duchess of Cornwall also met owners of the British team during her visit and presented a British Olympic Association award to her step-niece, Zara Phillips, the world equestrian champion, as the Equestrian Olympic Athlete of the Year for 2006.
