altTHE British Olympic Association has exclusively appointed Sportsworld as the official ticket and tour operator for Britain for Vancouver 2010, they announced today.

Packages will include official event tickets, international flights, airport transfers, accommodation, as well as specially selected excursions in and around Canada.

Sportsworld is already working with the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) on an initial allocation of tickets for Britain and designing a range of packages for different durations across the Games.

Sales are expected to go live in December 2008 but Sportsworld is akready offering a free priority registration scheme for customers to express their interest and get to the front of the queue (available at www.sportsworld.co.uk/vancouver).

Demand from the British market is expected to be higher than normal, driven by the build up to London 2012 and Vancouver itself as a world renowned destination offering scenic beauty, a welcoming community and top class Olympic sport.

At the last Winter Games in Turin in 2006, Britain's team of 40 won one medal, thanks to Shelly Rudman, who finished second in the bob skeleton.

Turin followed Salt Lake City in 2002 when Britain's female curling team so memorably won the gold medals.

Colin Moynihan, the chairman of the BOA, said: “We are delighted to be working with Sportsworld to create opportunities for families and supporters of Team GB to be part of the Vancouver Games.

"The success we enjoyed in Beijing was an inspiration to us all and will inevitably help to build the interest and excitement in going to Canada to cheer on our British Olympians.”

Chad Lion-Cachet, the chief executive of Sportsworld, said: “We are thrilled to have been awarded this exclusive appointment.

"These Winter Games promise to be spectacular - whether it’s the mountains, ocean, rainforest or downtown attractions, Vancouver has so much to offer.

"For Sportsworld, it will be the 14th consecutive Olympic Games at which we will operate programmes and we look forward to delivering memorable experiences for all our guests.”
