alt BRITAIN'S Georgina Harland today produced another strong finish to claim the bronze medal at the last round of Modern Pentathlon World Cup in Rome.

 

Harland, the Athens 2004 Olympic bronze medallist, made a slow start to her series, scoring 170 in the shooting for 976 points, putting her 31st out of 36 athletes.
 
But she produced one of the best fencing displays in the field, netting 1,000 points to soar to ninth overall and consolidated that position swimming 2min 21.15sec for another 1,228 points.
 
A further 1,034 points from the riding put her 12th going into the 3k run, where she came up trumps again.

 

Harland completed the run in the quickest time in the field – 9:58.31 – more than 10 seconds quicker than the next faster runner -  for 1,328 points and a grand total of 5,568 points.
 
Lindsey Weedon produced a consistent series that never saw her drop out of the top-10 and eventually finish eighth overall. 
 
Gold went to Anastasia Samusevich with 5,608 points and silver went to Tatiana Mazurkevich with 5,584.

 

Both athletes are from Belarus.
