Already on the BOA's list were the University of Bath, Loughborough University and Millfield School.

 

BOA chief executive Simon Clegg said: "Today's decision to include Aldershot in the shortlisted venues to host Team GB in the build-up to the 2012 Olympic Games in no way suggests that we are dissatisfied with the offerings of the other three shortlisted sites.

 

"The visits to Bath, Loughborough and Millfield have proven hugely encouraging to the extent that all three sites offer a better environment than Team GB has ever experienced at a previous pre-Olympic preparation camp.

 

"The decision to extend the list to include Aldershot came as a result of discussions with a couple of performance directors and reflects our desire to ensure that we deliver the very best set-up for our athletes in the build up to 2012.''

 

The BOA are expected to confirm which is their preferred site before the end of the year.
