August 31 - SportAccord today announced it had launched a Doping-Free Sport Unit in collaboration with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The Unit is designed to help intrnational federations whose anti-doping rules are not yet in line with the World Anti-Doping Code.

It plans to help them develop services to support them in implementing the Code.

Driven by a strategic plan covering a five-year period, the programme is supervised by an Advisory Board composed of representatives from SportAccord, WADA and the IOC.

SportAccord, formerly known as General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF), has appointed Françoise Dagouret, the former Corporate Services Director of the International Archery Federation (FITA) and former WADA Project Manager, to run the Unit.

She said: "I am delighted to join the SportAccord team in Lausanne, and I look forward to this exciting and challenging mission.

"Thanks to the support of WADA and the IOC, synergies and cooperative approaches will be developed, thus reinforcing the strong commitment of all stakeholders to protect and promote doping-free sport values”.

She will be assisted by Anne Soulie, who has joined SportAccord from the IOC.

SportAccord plans to work closely with the WADA Department of relations with international federations to develop management and assistance tools to help them manage their anti-doping programme.

From next year, SportAccord will also develop a wider range of services for its members, including whereabouts administration, therapeutic use exemptions administration and management, samples collection services, laboratory analysis or result management process.
