July 31 - An inspection team from FIFA will start their final visit to Nigeria on Sunday before the start of the troubled under-17 World Cup, which is due to kick-off in October.

Emeka Odikpo, a spokesman for the local organising committee, said the delegation led by FIFA vice-president Jack Warner are due to visit six venues, including Warri and Kaduna, during their four-day trip.

Abuja and Lagos have already been passed fit to host matches.

FIFA's last inspection in May produced a yellow card for Nigeria, after the world governing body noted a significant delay in the preparations for the tournament, which is scheduled to take place between October 24 and November 15.

FIFA subsequently gave Nigeria more time to get the facilities ready.

Odikpo said the Bauchi center was on standby, adding that FIFA did not visit Warri the last time its inspectors came because of the fears of terrorist attack, which has overshadowed the build-up to the tournament along with the slow delay in buidling facilities.

But Nigeria's Minister of Sports Sani Ndanusa has claimed that the country is now fully prepared to host the event.

He said: "I have visited all the stadia and all the demands by FIFA have been met and the few areas that need attention, I have asked the State Government affected to meet up."

The draws for the competition, involving 24 countries, is due to be made on August 7.

Tickets are due to go on sale to the public on August 17.
