NATHAN ROBERTSON and Gail Emms (pictured) will have the chance to better their silver medal from Athens after being named today in the Britain badminton squad for the Beijing Olympics.

The pair, who will be joined in the mixed doubles by Anthony Clark and Donna Kellogg, lost out in a deciding game to China's Ling Gao and Jun Zhang four years ago.

Robertson was named despite having been injured recently.

The 30-year-old underwent surgery last month but has been given the all clear to return to action and has been included in the six-strong squad that will travel to Beijing.

Emms said: "A brilliant surgeon cleared out his ankle and Nathan was walking in two days - so all is looking good."

Emms, who plans to retire after the Games, and Kellogg will team up in the women's doubles while Andrew Smith and Tracey Hallam have been selected for the singles events.

Team GB chef de mission Simon Clegg said: "Everyone was delighted when Gail and Nathan clinched a silver medal in Athens in 2004 and I am sure that this strong squad will be looking to add to badminton's Olympic medal collection."
