October 1 - UK Sport has today advertised three new opportunities to work with its performance team, and is hoping to attract world class people to roles that they claim will make a real impact on Britain's performances in the build-up to London 2012.

The first role is head of coaching, reporting directly to UK Sport's Director of Performance Peter Keen, and working alongside the performance management team of Dr Scott Drawer, Head of Research and Innovation, Chelsea Warr, Head of Athlete Development, and Matt Favier, Head of Performance Solutions.

This successful applicant will lead the strategic and operational delivery of UK Sport’s proposed new elite coach apprenticeship programme, which builds on existing coach support and will seek to accelerate the development of elite coaching within the high performance system.

The post holder will be required to work in partnership with national governing bodies of sports to design, implement and monitor the delivery of this programme.

The two other vacancies are performance adviser roles, reporting to Favier.

The two successful candidates will be responsible for a portfolio of Olympic and Paralympic sports, which they will actively support through UK Sport’s Mission 2012 framework, which looks to capture best practice and identify and resolve key challenges across all the World Class Programmes.

It is envisaged that one of these individuals will specialise in supporting winter Olympic sports.

Keen said: "These are fantastic opportunities to work in elite sport at this exciting time for the UK.

"We will be hoping for applications from exceptional individuals or consultancy organisations with extensive experience in high performance sport.

"These people will be joining UK Sport at a critical time and we will need them to be able to make an immediate impact, working with the rest of the performance team to support sports and programmes, around the framework provided by Mission 2012."
