Visa to increase backing to BOA

Britain's rowers top medal table

  BRITAIN took home four out of a possible six gold medals at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney, winning all women’s events and easily claiming top spot on the medal tally.

  Team GB achieved a total of six gold, five silver and a bronze, compared to Australia’s four gold

Victoria took the lead early and as they approached 1,000m they began to pull away from Team GB and Western

  BRITAIN clinched a hockey gold at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney today after a thrilling 4-2 victory over Australia in the women's final, but the men were beaten 7-6 in a penatly shoot-out.

  In unbearable heat, the host team was unable to maintain their undefeated status for the tournament

but with such a young squad that is just fantastic, I’m overwhelmed and just so proud of the whole team

GB had to settle for silver but coach Bobby Cructhley felt his side deserved more.  

"I thought we played really well and were the better team for the vast majority of the game," he said

The tournament was open to Under-21s but GB selected players from 16 upwards with a view to developing

His team mate Daniel Keatings was not far behind him.

British rowers show their strength in Sydney

  BRITISH rowers had a successful morning at the Australian Youth Olympic Fesitval on the Sydney International Regatta Course at Penrith with seven medals, including a one-two in the men's pair (pictured) and a gold in the women's single scull event.
