British men miss out on Olympic chance

  BRITAIN'S men Nick Woodbridge (pictured) and Sam Weale missed out on their first opportunity to achieve the Beijing 2008 Olympic qualification standard when they finished outside the top-eight in the final of the Modern Pentathlon European Championships in Riga today.

Weale started well in the 36-strong field, scoring 181 (1,108 points) from the shooting to put him in


British women all through to the final

  ALL four of Britain’s women, including Olympic bronze medallist Georgina Harland (pictured), today successfully booked places the final Modern Pentathlon European Championships final in Riga on Sunday.

Harland, bronze medallist at the Athens 2004 Olympics, was joint 15th after the shooting discipline with

Fell’s 182 points in the shooting range gave her 1120 points, pushing her to 12th overall.  

Livingston’s 172 gave her 1000 points from the shooting range.  


Great start for Britain's Modern Pentathletes

  SAM WEALE (pictured) and Nick Woodbridge got Britain off to a terrific start at the Modern Pentathlon European Championships in Latvia today as both qualified for Saturday’s final.

Weale got his campaign off to a bright start with a score of 183 in the shooting for 1132 points to put

Woodbridge recorded 21 wins and 14 defeats to take 904 points from that discipline into the shooting
