Four-time Olympic champion Leontien van Moorsel has rejected accusations she used erythropoietin (EPO) in the build-up to the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

The Dutch cyclist won road race, time trial and individual pursuit titles at the Games, as well as silver in the points race.

She would also secure time trial gold four years later in Athens, as well as earning eight world titles during her career.

Former cycling doctor Peter Janssen has claimed van Moorsel visited his offices with her husband on several occasions.

Janssen claimed to Dutch newspaper Volkskrant that he had showed the cyclist how to inject the substance.

“They came outside the office hours,” Janssen said.

“I think they may have been six times.

“There was often a long time between and at the last of those consultations it was then asked if it was possible to try a cure.”

Van Moorsel has admitted that she had visited the doctor’s practice at some stage of her career, but has denied taking the banned blood booster.

The 47-year-old claimed she had sought advice on her diet from Janssen.

"I was at Janssen's practice in the 1990s,” van Moorsel told Volkskrant.

“Whether it was in the late 1990s, 2000 or 2001, he gave me advice on my diet and training plans.

"I am very grateful to Dr. Janssen.

“He gave me the motivation when I made my comeback to believe in myself again.”
