Following her withdrawal from the majority of her events at the 2020 Tokyo Games, gymnast Simone Biles intends to stage her Olympic comeback in Paris 2024 later this summer.

Supporters will have an opportunity to witness firsthand Biles's journey as she prepares to return to the pinnacle of gymnastics on the grandest stage. Netflix is set to launch a four-part documentary titled "Simone Biles: Rising," offering an exclusive peek behind the scenes into the gymnast's path to Paris.

The premiere episode is scheduled for release in July, preceding the start of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, which commence on 26 July. The documentary will be broadcast in two instalments, with the initial four episodes debuting at the start of the Olympics.

Subsequent set of episodes will follow post the Paris Olympics, although an official release date has yet to be confirmed. The initial episodes will document Biles' challenges with mental health during the Tokyo Games, as well as her comeback to competition at the 2023 World Gymnastics Championships. Remaining episodes will focus on Biles' experiences with the United States' gymnastics team in Paris.

Biles entered the Olympic stage at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, clinching four gold medals and one bronze. However, during Tokyo 2020, she opted out of the team final and withdrew from the individual all-around competition to prioritise her mental health.

She has secured a total of seven Olympic medals throughout her career, matching Shannon Miller for the highest number achieved by a U.S. women's gymnast. At the 2023 World Championships, she amassed five medals, including gold in the team competition, individual all-around, balance beam, and floor exercise events.

"Simone Biles: Rising," will be helmed by director Katie Walsh and produced by Gotham Chopra, Ameeth Sankaran, Giselle Parets, and Janey Miller, in collaboration with the Olympics Channel. Chopra, one of the directors behind "Simone vs Herself," is anticipated to draw upon her previous expertise to provide Biles with the platform she merits.

Among the array of new sports series planned for release during the Olympics, the documentary on Biles is one of three. The other two will spotlight the United States men's basketball team and focus on track and field athletes.
