Chengdu 2025 World Games logo has been unveiled. THE WORLD GAMES

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for Chengdu 2025 has unveiled the fresh emblem representing the upcoming 12th edition of The World Games.

A total of 9,235 submissions, both domestic and international, were received from applicants around the globe, showcasing the world's creativity in shaping the visual identity of the International World Games Association (IWGA) flagship event for the upcoming year. The submissions included 3,562 logo concepts, 1,924 mascot designs, and 3,749 slogans.

The winning design for the Chengdu 2025 logo was unveiled on 17 May, 2024, while the mascot and slogan for Chengdu 2025 will be revealed at the 'One Year to Go' event in August 2024.

Inspired by iconic Chinese symbols such as the giant panda, the hibiscus flower, and the Chinese knot, the logo design ingeniously incorporates the facial features of the giant panda in the upper portion, reflecting the historical and cultural significance of Chengdu as the host city within the Sichuan Province.

At the center of the emblem lies the Chinese knot, symbolising unity, prosperity, and good fortune, emphasising the importance of unity and embodying the core values of The World Games, resonating with participants and audiences alike.

Furthermore, the design draws inspiration from the hibiscus flower, seamlessly integrating the giant panda with the Chinese knot to infuse the essence of Chengdu into The World Games.

The emblem achieves a balanced and harmonious color scheme, utilising cool colors vertically and warm colors horizontally, resulting in a sense of depth and coordination among the five colors: red, yellow, green, black, and white.

John Fairley, the esteemed British designer behind this emblem, is a member of the Royal Society of Arts.
