Jacobs had originally hoped to run a sub-10 second race upon his return home from Florida.

Sri Lankan sprinter Yupun Abeykoon came in fourth with a 10.21 — a heartbreak for the Paris 2024 hopeful as he failed to meet the Olympic Qualification mark. Abeykoon is left with at least three more international events where he could achieve the required ranking points to qualify.

In the women’s 100m Arianna De Masi, fresh from the World Relays, finished in first place with a time of 11.26, leaving contenders American Shania Collins (11.40) and Chiara Melon (11.57) in the dust. Olympian Zaynab Dosso took the women's 200m, clocking in at 23.10 followed by the 17-year-old Elisa Valensin.

Dosso admitted in an interview that she did not pace her energy well. "Maybe I misunderstood the race," Dosso admits to Sky Sport. "I started very fast but then there were another 100 metres. In the last 80 I struggled. In general, the last 100 I ran a bit 'bad’.” she explained.

Valensin, despite not grabbing the gold, had her moment with a double Italian record: achieving the best time ever among the Under 20s in the 200m and in the 4x100 relay among the Under 18s. Filippo Tortu's men's 200m victory was a disappointment to the athlete. While he had no problems keeping the five rivals behind him, he clocked in at 20.72  — a far cry from his personal best at 20.10. 

"Nothing worked. I can't know now what I did wrong but I think I did everything wrong," says Tortu to Sky Sport, and adds: "I'm a bit angry. I was convinced I could come here and do the personal. I'm three weeks away from the European Championships. I need to be able to erase what I did today from my head."
