This week Premier Padel, the world's leading official professional padel tour, held a stunning exhibition match on board the iconic aircraft carrier Giuseppe Garibaldi - moored in the Port of Genoa - as part of the opening of the Genova Premier Padel P2 tournament.

The installation of a MejorSet 'Full Panoramic' padel court - the first time ever on a ship of this size - created a unique experience. Competitors and guests were treated to some exceptional skills from the world's leading men's and women's padel players, including Arturo Coello, Agustin Tapia, Federico Chingotto, Alejandro Arroyo, Ari Sánchez, Paula Josemaría, Claudia Fernández and Gemma Triay.

The Giuseppe Garibaldi - a historic flagship vessel of the Italian Naval Squadron - has been in operational service for almost 40 years. It has participated in major international operations, including Somalia, Kosovo, Lebanon and Libya, and recently took part in an exercise in the Arctic Circle.

Premier Padel, chaired by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, is entering an exciting new era on a global scale as a new unified global tour. The Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour will feature 25 tournaments in 17 countries, culminating in the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Finals in Barcelona in December.

After this week's tournament in Genoa, the tour heads to Malaga next week for its latest P1 tournament. Premier Padel has announced several major partnerships for 2024, including Red Bull, Qatar Airways, Wilson, Bullpadel, Playtomic, MejorSet and Mondo which are transformative for the tour.

Premier Padel is the world's leading official professional padel tour, created by Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) in partnership with the International Padel Federation (FIP) and the Professional Padel Association (PPA).

Launched in 2022 and supported by the PPA, over 500 players competed in Premier Padel tournaments in its inaugural year, playing in some of the most iconic venues in the sport's history, including Roland-Garros in Paris.

In March 2023, over 110 leading female players joined Premier Padel through the International Padel Players Association (IPPA). In August 2023, it was announced that QSI would acquire the World Padel Tour (WPT) to create a single global professional padel tour - Premier Padel - governed by the FIP.

From 2024, Premier Padel will encompass 25 tournaments in 17 countries as it continues to grow into new territories and dimensions. As a global brand, it also captures the dynamic spirit of padel as the sport enters an exciting new era on a global scale, driven by the new unified global tour.
