Paris 2024 Paralympics: Bipartite slots for Para-Taekwondo athletes. WORLD PARA-TAEKWONDO

The World Taekwondo has announced that 12 Bipartite slots were allocated to nations including four first timers in seven Para Taekwondo categories for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Among the nations to get the Paralympic slot for the first time were Saudi Arabia (Men K44, -63 kg), Ivory Coast (Men K44, -70 kg), Georgia (Women K44, -47 kg), Greece (Women K44, -65 kg), Iraq (Men K44, +80 kg), and Central African Republic (Women K44, +65 kg).

Other nations who claimed the Bipartite slots were Afghanistan and Nepal (Men K44, -58 kg), Aruba and Costa Rica (Men K44m, -80 kg), Morocco (Women K44, -47 kg) and USA (Women K44, -52 kg).

One of those athletes, Greece's Christina Gkentzou (Women K44, -65 kg), won the 2024 European Para Taekwondo Championships in May. Most recently she won the 2024 World Para Taekwondo Open Challenge in Chuncheon, Korea, stunning the Paralympic medallist Beth Munro in the semi-finals before clinching the gold defeating Thailand's Awipa Phuaphan.

With these slots, 52 nations have qualified for the Paris 2024 Paralympics, which will be the second time the sport will make its appearance at the Games.

As many as 120 athletes will compete at the 10 Para Taekwondo events at Grand Palais that begin on August 29.
