At a time when boxing is growing in popularity and fans are demanding new initiatives and innovations, the (IBA) will relaunch the World Series in 2025. It will not be exactly the same as in the past, but it will respect the original format. The intention is to enhance the competition with new features. It will kick off in the first quarter of 2025. 

The World Series will bring together amateur and professional boxers in a unique team-based competition. The WSB will feature team matches under professional rules, unlike traditional boxing tournaments. Historically, this competition has allowed young boxers to test their potential against tough, experienced, high-level opponents that are not available in other traditional competitions.

It was an opportunity for the athlete to mature under conditions very different from the usual competition conditions. The fans also benefited by witnessing highly competitive and unpredictable fights. Enthusiasm for the return of the WSB was expressed by IBA President Umar Kremlev, who said, "The World Series of Boxing has always been a cornerstone in developing talent and providing invaluable experience for boxers. We are thrilled to bring back this prestigious event and give athletes the opportunity to showcase their skills on a global stage."

Among the possible new features in the roadmap is the possibility of international teams in a round-robin format, with preliminary and stage-based knockout rounds. This could lead to attractive match-ups. The relaunch could also boost betting and public engagement. IBA Secretary General and CEO Chris Roberts OBE said, "The return of the World Series of Boxing marks a new era for our sport. We are committed to delivering an unrivalled experience for both athletes and fans. The WSB will not only reignite the passion for boxing. It will set a new standard of excellence in competition. This is boxing like you've never seen it before: more exciting, more accessible and more dynamic."

Boxing is experiencing a period of growing popularity. The sport has shed old concepts associated with the old school. The boxer is now an athlete in every sense of the word. As a result, the sport is being increasingly recognised. The growing number of participants is a key factor in understanding what is happening with boxing. More and more young sportsmen and women are choosing boxing as an alternative to sport at an early age and the IBA wants to give a boost to the existing range of competitions.
