Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz has already established himself as a world champion, he is ranked number three in the world and has won Wimbledon and Roland Garros. That, however, is not stopping him from learning from one of his idols, Rafael Nadal.

Alcaraz is well aware of his place alongside home legend Nadal, with whom he will be paired at Paris 2024. The event begins on 27 July.

The event will be Nadal's last at a Summer Games, while it will be Alcaraz's first, so the debutant's role will be to "keep my mouth shut" and "just listen to him" and let him take the initiative.

He told ABC Sports that the two will not discuss strategy until they arrive in Paris, which will be a 'dream moment' for him.

"I'm not nervous at the moment. I will be when the time comes. And yes, obviously he's been there before, he knows what it's like to play in the Olympics, to win a gold medal in both singles and doubles," he said, adding that "we'll try to bring home another gold medal."

Making history

The former coach and uncle of Rafa Nadal, Toni Nadfal, believes the Spanish duo can win gold in Paris in 2024. Alcaraz, just 21, became the youngest player to win a Grand Slam on all three surfaces: hard court, clay and grass. His talent and speed make him one of the players who will define an era in world tennis.

The tennis sensation will be looking to make history in 2024 and take gold in the French capital after dominating at Roland Garros and Wimbledon this year. If Alcaraz wins the Olympic medal, he will be part of an elite group of players who have achieved the triple crown of Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the Olympic Games in the same year.

Nadal won Olympic gold in singles at Beijing 2008 and in doubles at Rio 2016. He has every title in the book. In Beijing 2008, he beat Fernando González in the final. In Rio 2016, he won doubles gold with Marc López.

The tennis player himself posted a video on his Instagram account a few days ago, showing him training at a high level for the upcoming tournament: Paris 2024. He was training at the Rafa Nadal Academy, run by Movistar and located in Manacor, where he lives. He decided not to go to Wimbledon, where he has won twice

Nadal, a 22-time Grand Slam champion, returned to competition last April after missing most of the past 16 months due to injury and is currently ranked 264th in the world. With injuries preventing him from playing regularly, the Spanish champion is going through a difficult time. Although Nadal insists he has no intention of retiring, this could be his last season as a professional.
