The Olympic Games have not started well for Argentina. Marred with controversy on it, following their loss to Morocco, they have since filed a complaint to police and FIFA about being looted while training.

Javier Mascherano, the coach of the Argentine men's football team, broke the news after the match against Morocco. But the robbery took place on Wednesday, before the opening match against the African team.

According to Mascherano, the team went to training to prepare for the match and when they returned they realised that the players' personal belongings were missing. The Argentine delegation then decided to lodge a complaint at a police station in Lyon. FIFA has also been notified. They intend to defend their athletes, who should concentrate on their sporting performance.

It was probably because they were concentrating on the match against Morocco that they did not say anything to the press on the day of the robbery. Besides, Mascherano believes it would have done no good. But they are hurt that this is happening to them at the Olympic Games.

It was with this bad news that the Argentinian national team faced the first match of the tournament. And they were defeated in a very strange match with several incidents. Morocco won 2-1, but it was a dramatic end to the match.

The match was extended due to pitch encroachment and Argentina equalised near the end. Objects were thrown from the stands and the match was suspended. Two hours later the players returned to the pitch, with no spectators in the stands, the goal was reviewed and disallowed. In the end, Morocco got the win.

Argentina will play their second match on Saturday, at 15:00 local time, against Iraq, and the third, on Tuesday, against Ukraine, at 17:00. Mascherano's side can no longer afford any more slip-ups.
