Leon Marchand, the big revelation at this Olympics in Defense Arena, the place in Paris for swimming, won his fourth gold in the 200m freestyle final, beating Michael Phelps' Olympic record, with a time of 1:54.06, erasing the giant Phelps' 1:54.23 from Beijing 2008.

Marchand won in 1min 54.06sec, the second-fastest time in history and an Olympic record. He adds this gold to 200m butterfly and 200m breaststroke ones, along with the 400m individual medley. To the opening 400m freestyle title, Marchand was able to add on Wednesday the feat of combining the 200m butterfly and 200m breaststroke on the same night.

Britain's Duncan Scott (1:55.31) took silver and China's Shun Wang (1:56.00) bronze in Friday's final. China's Wang, the defending champion, led after the opening butterfly leg.
