The Republic of Korea showcased its absolute dominance in archery at Les Invalides in Paris on Saturday, reaffirming their global supremacy with a commanding performance in the sport.

Lim Sihyeon claimed the women’s individual title, defeating compatriot Nam Su-Hyeon 7-3. France’s Lisa Barbelin took third place by defeating yet another South Korean Jeon Hunyuong in the bronze medal match.

Barbelin’s medal is the first a female French archer has ever won and ends France’s 32-year medal drought in the sport.

Lim’s win takes her Paris Olympic haul to an impressive three golds after her team’s success in the women’s and mixed earlier this week. The men’s team also sealed a first-place finish, taking the country’s gold medal count to four out of four competitions so far with the men’s individual title still up for grabs.

Mixed team debuted in Tokyo 2020, and if Korea pulls off a gold medal sweep in Paris they will become the first team ever to win five archery gold medals at a single Olympics.

South Korea has dominated Olympic archery with 31 gold medals, more than double the No. 2 United States' haul. Korea has never lost a women's or mixed team event, and the Olympic records in all five archery disciplines are currently held by Korean archers.

The battle for men’s individual begins tomorrow at 9:30 CEST.
