Germany dominated the group stage, finishing at the top with six wins out of seven games. Their only setback was a narrow two-point loss to Australia, but they quickly rebounded with strong performances, including a decisive victory over Spain on Saturday. This win solidified Janina Pils' team as the top contenders for the title.

Spain, meanwhile, concluded the group phase with four wins, including a 15-18 loss to Germany. Despite this, they were initially in a four-way tie for second place with the United States, Canada, and Australia. However, Spain's fate took a positive turn when France defeated Australia 18-16 and the United States edged out China 14-12. These results allowed Spain to hold onto second place, securing their automatic spot in the semi-finals on their Olympic debut.
