American boxer Angelo Leo claimed the International Boxing Federation (IBF) featherweight title in the main event of a night of boxing in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Reigning world champion Luis Alberto Lopez of Mexico came to Leo's hometown to retain the title he won in December 2022. He had previously successfully defended his title but was knocked out by the challenger on 10 August.

The fight was largely even with several exchanges and good punches from both sides. In the eighth round, Lopez's punch opened a cut under Leo's right eye.

However, Lopez continued to push forward and in the tenth round he landed a left hook to the champion's chin during an exchange. Lopez was unable to get up for the referee's count and Leo won the fight by knockout.

At the time of the knockout, two judges had it 86-85 for Leo and one had it 86-85 for Lopez. Leo improved to 25-1 with the win, while Lopez lost for the third time in 33 fights.
