Great British Paralympian-turned-brewer Dan Pembroke is marking his second Paralympics with his own beer creation titled 'Paris Gold' which he hopes to share with fellow Team GB competitors after a successful Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

The Paralympic Torch has now arrived in France and has split into 12 to travel the country before arriving in Paris to kick off the 2024 Paralympic Games. While organisers recently unveiled its lineup for its closing ceremony featuring a dance show with 24 of France's top DJs, one Team GB Paralympian has already set his sights on his own way of celebrating.

While preparing to grab his second gold in the javelin throw in Paris, Dan Pembroke of Hertfordshire is simultaneously working on an "unofficial party beer" for after the Paralympics Games.

The champion from Tokyo, who has a degenerative eye condition called Retinitis pigmentosa which leaves him with just 10% vision, is brewing a 'Paris Gold' brew which he hopes will be enjoyed by Team GB medalists to mark their success.

It's something that looks to be becoming a tradition for Pembroke who created a 'Tokyo Gold' in 2021 after throwing 69.52 metres to secure gold and achieve a new Paralympic record in the process.

Having begun brewing in 2020 Pembroke wanted to commemorate his success in Tokyo with his own beer and he's looking to add a second commemorative batch this summer as he strives to near his personal best of 75.89 m which he threw before competing as a Paralympian.

After being classified as a disabled athlete in 2019 and taking gold in the T13 Javelin Throw at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, the 33-year-old Paralympic athlete was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2022 New Year Honours for his services to athletics.
