The International Boxing Association (IBA) Board of Directors met in Havana on the eve of International Boxing Day, which coincides with a major professional boxing event in the Cuban capital on 27 August, to discuss important matters. The next meeting is scheduled for 29 October 2024.

"This is a special Board of Directors meeting," IBA President Umar Kremlev addressed the members. "On Tuesday, we have a big celebration of International Boxing Day at the birthplace of our first World Championships, which first united our nations in Havana in 1974. Today we are in Cuba to unite once again and to involve people in sport, because the IBA is the leading example of how to create these successful conditions for our athletes".

The IBA Board decided to jointly review the composition of the Committees. The IBA Head Office has been tasked with reviewing each committee and proposing any necessary changes, a process that will begin immediately, with further details to follow in due course.

The Athletes Committee will also be reviewed ahead of the election of the two new representatives to support boxers on the IBA Board, which has been updated on the latest work on 'WePlay' and the recent launch of the International Boxing Day branding.
