The Americas Paralympic Committee (AmPC) signed the host territory contract for the Santiago 2025 Youth Parapan American Games with Chilean government officials and directors of the National Paralympic Committee of Chile (COPACHI) last 28 August at the UNESCO headquarters.

The AmPC is the apex body for national Paralympic Committees for North, Central and South America and the Caribbean and has a membership of 33 national Paralympic committees. Chile’s Minister of Sport, Jaime Pizarrro, is looking forward to the Games in November of next year.

"I am very happy to be able to sign this contract, especially in the framework of the UNESCO event on sport and inclusion. Chile has a great sporting calendar, and these games will add to it, and seek to generate more development in Paralympic sport," Pizarrro stated according to a press release by the Jamaica Paralympic Media.

With the legacy of the Santiago 2023 Para Panamerican Games, we have the Paralympic Centre, and a great infrastructure, but the most important thing was the experience of the athletes during the Parapan American Games and all the stakeholders of sport. Signing the agreement at the headquarters of UNESCO is very important as we have worked with them in the development of different Paralympic sport projects.

Julio Cesar Avila, AmPC President, said he was extremely pleased and was very excited to see the event return to Chile after the successful Santiago 2023 Games.

"This is a vote of confidence; it is an acknowledgement of the great management of the Chilean Paralympic Committee. These games are the seabed of Chilean Paralympic sport. I am confident that Santiago will host an excellent youth Games in 2025,” he said.

"More importantly, it signifies the parties’ common and deep commitment to provide the youth of the Americas and Caribbean with an inspiring experience, in sport, of self-validation,” AmPC Executive Board Director Christopher Samuda added.

Over 20 countries will participate in the Parapan American Youth Games 2025 with an estimated 3,800 Paralympic athletes aged 12-21 with physical, hearing, visual, cognitive and cerebral palsy disabilities competing across 12 disciplines.
