Kelly_Holmes_and_WenlockMarch 9 - Dame Kelly Holmes and official London 2012 mascot Wenlock (pictured) were today on hand at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre to launch BT's search for members of the public to become storytellers for the Games.

The campaign is looking for people from all walks of life to share their experiences and thoughts about the London Olympics in a variety of creative ways.

People are able to register on a new website (www.bt.com/london2012), with applications open from today until June.

The chosen storytellers will then be invited to submit their stories, tweets, photos, film clips and blogs to the dedicated website from July 27.

They will have exclusive access through BT to events and people connected to the Games, while their work could also be published through mainstream media.

"Winning two gold medals is the story that encapsulates my distinguished career," said Dame Kelly.

"It was the springboard that has provided me with the opportunity to continue to inspire and motivate young people in life through sport.

"I'm looking forward to seeing how the stories that come to define London 2012 are told by members of the British public."

Whether budding writers, keen social networkers, amateur photographers, film-makers, artists or musicians - anyone with an interest in the Games is invited to participate.

London 2012 chairman Sebastian Coe said: "Throughout my time as an athlete I have been lucky to have met a wide range of people, whether volunteers at previous Games, athletes or spectators, so many of these stories have inspired me.

"Thousands of people are already inspired by and benefiting from the London 2012 Games and I know they have some great stories to share.

"I'm delighted to support this BT initiative.

"It's a fantastic way of showcasing people's creative talents, ensuring they are a key part of the Games.

"Whether you share your stories via written word, photos or tweets, if you're inspired by London 2012 BT wants to hear from you."

Suzi Williams, director of BT Group marketing and brand, added: "The Olympic and Paralympic Games are all about creating stories that will last through the generations – and there is nothing more important than sharing these stories with each other.

"The greatest show on earth deserves the greatest storytellers, and we're delighted to be starting the search for them today."
