NVF have recently organised a double gender beach volleyball tournament in the capital Abuja, which was sponsored by the electronics giant, and following its success Samsung have committed to further work with them.

Thirty six Nigerian states sent athletes to Abuja for the tournament, which gave the NVF an ideal opportunity to identify talented sports men and women who could represent the country on the international volleyball stage.

NVF President Habu Gumel (pictured centre) spoke of his hope that the deal would help push the sport on: "The Nigerian Volleyball Federation will not allow this kind gesture by Samsung in identifying with volleyball in the country to be in vain.

"We will, in our own small way, reciprocate by monitoring talents discovered at this championship to the professional stage."

Donald Etim (pictured left), Samsung's head of corporate marketing, added: "The partnership would change the focus of the game and make it more attractive for Nigerians to appreciate."
