Russians invited to vote for Sochi 2014 mascot

September 1 - A Eurovision Song Contest-style competition to design the mascots for the 2014 Sochi Olympics and find a successor to the much-loved Misha the Bear, who was the symbol of the 1980 Games in Moscow, was launched today.


Annecy 2018 strengthens international team with top diplomat

August 27 - Top diplomat Michèle Ramis has been appointed to a key role with the international relations team campaigning for Annecy to be awarded the 2018 Olympics and Paralympics as the French city steps up its efforts to make up lost ground on rivals Munich and Pyeongchang. 







Sochi 2014 environmental programme praised

August 19 - Sochi's green programme for the 2014 Olympics and Paralympics was today praised by Theodore Oben, the head of the Outreach Unit at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), who claimed that he has "a strong feeling that Sochi 2014 will be successful" in environmental protection.


Top Korean diplomat given key role by Pyeongchang 2018

August 13 - Yang Chun Park (pictured right), a former high-ranking diplomat and now the the chairman of the Korean Olympic Committee (KOC), has been appointed as secretary general for international relations by Pyeongchang's bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, they announced today.
