Multi-million dollar deal to keep Jamaica on the right track

April 1 - Telecommunications company LIME have announced a J$21 million (£1.5 million/$2.3 million) three-year sponsorship of the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association (JAAA) youth programmes to try to ensure that the success currently enjoyed by the country - thanks to the likes of Usain Bolt (pictured) and Melanie Walker - continues.




Simmonds holds off world champion Spofforth

March 31 - Loughborough swimmer Elizabeth Simmonds (pictured) tonight produced a major shock in the British Gas Swimming Championships when she held off world champion Gemma Spofforth in the 100 metres backstroke final at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.

March 29 - Double Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington (pictured) could hardly contain her delight at seeing off close rivals Jazmin Carlin and Jo Jackson in the 200 metres freestyle on the opening day of the British Gas Swimming Championships at Ponds Forge in Sheffield. 








Samoa win Hong Kong Sevens in front of Rogge

March 28 - Samoa came from behind to beat New Zealand 24-21 and win the Hong Kong Sevens, taking the lead in the International Rugby Board (IRB) Sevens World Series with two tournaments left in the season, in a thrilling tournament watched by Jacques Rogge, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
