The Executive Committee of the International World Games Association (IWGA) has held its fourth meeting of the year in Madrid, Spain to convene a year ahead of The World Games 2025 which will be held in Chengdu, China.

Born in 1996, Swiss orienteer Riccardo Rancan has steadily risen through the ranks in one of the world's strongest nations in the sport. A specialist in urban sprints, he made his big breakthrough with two gold medals at the World Championships in Edinburgh and agreed to talk to The World Games.

On 7 August in a grand celebration marking exactly one year until The World Games 2025 Chengdu, a countdown clock was unveiled at Taikoo Li, one of Chengdu’s most iconic locations.

The World Games 2025 Chengdu unveiled the slogan "Boundless Sports, Countless Wonders" and their official mascots at a ceremony in Paris on 6 August to jump-start the countdown to the start of the games. 

Yan Bangbang and Du Yujun from China are named the World Games Athletes athletes of July by the International World Games by the International World Games Association (IWGA).

The International World Games Association (IWGA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee. Lucie-Marie Kretzschmar captained Germany to a 2-0 win over Argentina in the gold medal match of the Beach Handball World Championship in Pingtan, China. Germany thus secured the direct qualification for the 2025 edition of The World Games (IWGA) in Chengdu, China.  The captain was named player of the month for June and best defender of the tournament.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) and the Global Esports Federation have announced the signing of a Strategic Framework Agreement (SFA) aimed at exploring opportunities to integrate esports into future editions of The World Games.

It's official. The World Games will be held in Karlsruhe, Germany, which hosted the event 40 years ago in 1989. The Executive Committee approved the city's bid last Wednesday and awarded it the right to host the 13th edition of the multi-sport competition.

The International Federation of American Football (IFAF) and the International Cheer Union (ICU) have joined the International World Games Association (IWGA). This brings the total number of members to 40. The vote to admit the two bodies took place on 1 May and they will be included in the Chengdu 2025 programme.
