August 18 - Russia's pole vault world record holder Yelena Isinbayeva revealed here today she is ready to return to action following a break from the sport that has lasted almost six months and is targeting three more major championships, including the London 2012 Olympic Games, before retiring for good.

August 4 - A back injury has forced Asafa Powell to make a late withdrawal from the DN Galan Samsung Diamond League meeting in Stockholm on Friday (August 6), where he was to have f aced fellow Jamaican Usain Bolt and American Tyson Gay over 100 metres for the first time since last summer’s World Championships.
